Forty years ago, in France, the fight was to get people with Down syndrome out of psychiatric institutions, where they were stacked. Led by families and associations, this fight was won, and we started seeing these people in the streets.

Today the fight is of another nature, today the fight is for an integration in ?ordinary? environments. Children we see in schools, in dance classes or in integrated day care centers. Yet again the battle is led by some associations. Along with, but very often against the administration. The aim is to give the child the means of their autonomy, as well as to fight agains...
